In the first section, students are given riddles, mystery animals, and hidden pictures; they go on a state safari and try to discover a magic number; and they complete many other fun activities to sharpen their skills in following written directions.

In the second section, students follow step-by-step directions to draw simple pictures. Your students will have fun drawing a fire engine, a soccer player, a castle, a rhinoceros, an ice skater, and lots more. Each drawing includes an extension activity.

In the third section, you read (or tape-record) directions while your students follow the oral directions on their activity sheets. From graphing to customizing a sports shoe, these activities reinforce and test a student's ability to listen and follow directions—an important test-taking skill.
