National Mom and Pop Business Owners Day!

National Mom and Pop Business Owners Day!

March 29th is National Mom and Pop Business Owners Day!

There are so many AMAZING mom and pop owned teachers stores that sell our products and we are so lucky to work with them.

Today, we would like to feature one of our favorite local teacher stores, Knowledge Bound, from Windsor, Colorado. Knowledge Bound is a place that goes beyond being a retail store and provides hand selected, top quality educational toys and tools. When you walk into the store, you will be welcomed to the well-organized environment, complete with hands-on displays and a knowledgeable friendly staff to serve your needs.

This store is owned and operated by our friend Ginger Hazel. After graduation from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas Ginger began her teaching career. She taught elementary school in Germany and earned her Master's degree in Curriculum & Instruction. She returned to her home town of Fort Collins, CO and taught for Poudre School District.

During the time she was teaching in Fort Collins, she talked a lot about the idea of opening her own teacher store. For nearly a decade, she shared this dream with coworkers. In 2005, Ginger finalized the planning and opened Knowledge Bound. "With some retail experience and a lot of teacher experience, I was ready! At least I thought I was... the first several years were a huge learning curve! There was so much more to running a teacher store than just being a teacher!! I learned a lot about running a store from my parents who were former business owners. Without their support and knowledge, I would have never made it past the first year.

The transition from being a teacher to a business owner was a huge step. Every day is a challenge... one that blends my love of teaching and education with my desire to do new things and be successful.

I believe the ultimate measure of success for Knowledge Bound is the reputation we have within the Northern Colorado and Wyoming communities. I am proud of the reputation we have built over the years as the 'go to place' for unique educational items and top-quality service. We are in business to create a space that provides products to inspire life-long learners, knowledgeable staff to help our customers, and to support our communities by providing donations, tax revenue, and employment opportunities.

My long term goals are simply to be happy, appreciate life every day, and spend as much time as possible enjoying my family."
