Easy Halloween Craft - DIY Pumpkins

Easy Halloween Craft - DIY Pumpkins

Halloween is just around the corner and we have the perfect craft to upcycle all those extra bulletin board border strips and classroom accents that you have been saving and get your kiddos into the Halloween spirit!

This craft is perfect for practicing fine motion skills like tracing, cutting, and gluing. All you need for this craft is some white paper and left over bulletin board trimmers.

The best part about using extra borders is that the possibilities are endless! You can mix and match pattern, colors and strip width so each child will create a unique design. TIP: Use border strips that match your classroom décor so the end result will coordinate with your classroom theme.

1. CUT INTO STRIPS

Start with cutting your borders down into smaller strips.

2. CREATE A PATTERN & GLUE

Have the children create their own unique pattern and glue down the strips side by side on the white piece of paper.

3.  DRAW A PUMPKIN TEMPLATE

Have the children draw a pumpkin. TIP: To save time you can provide students with pre-made pumpkin templates and have children skip step 3 & 4.

4. CUT OUT PUMPKIN TEMPLATE

Cut the pumpkin template out of the paper.

5. TRACE PUMPKIN TEMPLATE

Have students trace the template on the border strip page.

6. CUT PUMPKIN SHAPE

Then, cut the pumpkin shape out of the border paper.

That's all! You will love to see all the fun patterns your kids create.

Hang around the classroom to get festive.
