As students read and/or listen to stories, they learn to recognize familiar patterns within the literature. Then, invite them to write their own innovations on the text patterns.
As students begin to make the reading-writing connection, they gradually gain the skills and confidence to write their own stories. Soon students will be on their way toward becoming more proficient writers!
