This book targets short and long vowel decoding, word recognition skills, and sight word practice at the K and 1st grade levels. The multilevel text pages support letter and sound recognition and sight word identification. The text moves gradually from single words to phrases and sentences to increase children's ability to phrase or "chunk" text into meaningful units.
This book includes both one-window and two-window text frames in the shape of delightful animal characters, which are used to reinforce concepts about print and to stress left-to-right and top-to-bottom reading practice.
