Lead your students on an exciting word journey. Take them on an
Analogy Adventure in which they learn to analyze, solve, and write analogies.
Because analogies are "word puzzles." working with them gives today's students some much-needed practice in analyzing relationships while strengthening their vocabularies and increasing their creativity.
The 25 pages of analogy exercises in this book have high-interest adventure themes. The exercises included analogies based on relationships involving words that name animal groups or offspring; words that are antonyms, synonyms, or homophones; and words that name individual members of a larger group or recognized parts of a whole. The exercises are arranged so that both the vocabulary they contain and the concepts on which they are based become progressively more difficult. The analogies are written in each of the two formats currently being used on standardized tests so that students will become familiar with both.
In addition to the exercises and an answer key, this book contains a number of special features. Among them are word lists students can use when writing their own analogies, a score chart on which individual students can keep track of their progress, a reproducible award with which teachers can recognize achievement, and Analogy Whizo, an original game that an be played for analogy practice by a small group of students or by an entire class
